While a country has every right to enact laws to protect the interests of its citizens, I believe such laws should always be reciprocated by the affected nations–in the interest of fairness.

This could back fire if it chases away the tourists themselves (which are a huge chunk of income for the country as a whole)

I think you underestimate the power of protests . The people now smell weakness and will be relentless until their mandate is met . You are looking at this in a pragmatic view , the people are not . Let them eat cake never works .

This 100 per cent tax sounds high can you give an example say on a property selling for 100,000 euros ? What would that cost ? Hardly going to provide any incentive or jobs for the immigrants.

If they are so short of housing, why did they demolish so many declaring them illegal ? This was after all paperwork was done.
